Tanzanite

Tanzanite is a rare blue violet gemstone that belongs to mineral zoisite and is found only near mount kilimanjaro in tanzania. Because it comes from a single location, it is much rarer than diamonds. Tanzanite is well known for its color changing effect, called pleochroism, where shades of blue, purple and sometimes red can be seen depending on the light and viewing angle.
